The Season of Advent Begins
Pregnant with Anticipation

poem: Thanksgiving passes,
Winter Solstice nears,
Advent begins (via negativa)

and now the family Thanksgiving
bountiful feast has been eaten
and the days revelry abated
( the dominant culture’s lies
about its oppression of the Native
American’s laid bare)

entering the liminal space
of late Autumn’s cold, short days,
the Winter Solstice nears
(the dominant culture’s
Black Friday and pre-Christmas
buying frenzy muted)

preparing ourselves through
deep reflection and contemplation
in our stillness and quietude
(the dominant culture’s frenetic
holiday festivities and prideful hail fellow
well met transmuted)

coming into the Advent season of the
coming of the Universal Cosmic Christ
and its call to “the high price of full
consciousness” (the dominant culture’s
distortions of Santa Claus and the churches’
sentimental baby Jesus plays notwithstanding)

Christ consciousness incarnate
Jesus is Lord, Come Lord Jesus
(not the dominant culture’s current day
Caesar of power, control, and violence,
but Christ with us in the neighborly
community of the Kin-dom)

Author’s note: My poem is meant to
convey the story of Universal Cosmic Christ
consciousness breaking into the worldy
human empires of the many Caesar’s and
their power, control, violence, and oppression.
As a universal cosmic, spiritual story, it extends
beyond the institutional Christian church and is
available to everyone regardless of personal
religious beliefs. It becomes part of the human
story of spiritual growth towards True Self and
belonging in Authentic Community together.
The quote in stanza four is from Richard Rohr.)

poem: a paean for senescence

poem: a paean for senescence

our growing older
is not a linearity starting here, ending there,
not a timeline from beginning to end,
not a simple chronological
counting of the years

to be sure there
are circles, loops, and spirals,
bardos, gaps, and liminal spaces,
and ones functional/dysfunctional
life experiences

and of course
in our aging
one is vulnerable
to life’s foibles and frailties
which we must suffer

thus in our senescence
we prepare,
countering bitterness with beauty,
hopelessness with creative imagination,
infirmity with wholeness

embodying a faith that sustains us
for those unseen things yet to come
in our Cosmic journey home
in the truth of the Universal Oneing
of consciousness human and divine

being gentle with those things
unsettled in our heart and soul
knowing our cries, laments, and joys
are heard, and there is place of radical grace
and love that perennially longs for us

poem: your love across the universe

poem: your love across
the universe

a world full
of thrones and rocks
will reek its pain

and we imperfect beings
are perfectly susceptible
to its suffering

extant suffering
which must not be
ignored, denied, or fetishized

but to which we must
respond with the ability
to listen and learn its hard lessons

lessons of paradoxical tensions
capable of leading us to
healing, transformation, and growth

that the beauty of life
always returns to us
in its creative expression

recalling a poems words,
the autumns golden light,
your love across the universe

poem: healing heaven and earth

poem: healing heaven and earth

living our lives
waiting for a magic pass
to a magic kingdom
is wasting our breath

there is no magic pass
to the self truth
of True Self
and it’s Healing

there is no magic pass
to the relational mutuality
of Authentic Community
and Coming Home

there is no magic pass
to the Higher Consciousness
of Universal Truth
and it’s Cosmic Being

there is no magic pass
to the Radical Grace and Love
of the New Way
and New Life

only through grace, contemplation,
awareness, intent, will, and action
are we personally transformed
and collectively actualized

only rigorous preparation
and tenacious practice
will render us ready to participate
in Heaven and Earth Here and Now

when all things are considered
with Radical Grace and Love
Heaven and Earth
are one

poem: our lives together in challenging times

poem: our lives together in challenging times

separated from one another
and under assault from the external din
as never before in our lifetime

a ‘new normal’ will never evolve
by commenting on the scenery or
changing external circumstances

needing intensive Self care,
and a cleansing from the rhetoric, lies,
propaganda, hubris, nostalgia, and platitudes

letting go of all we think we know
and that which the dominant authorities
want us to believe although unexamined

here and now quieting and stilling
we are as beginners each new day to the
examined, intentional, purposeful life

transcending the absorbed self
let us turn and open within
to wisdom of the ages and Self truth here and now

being as seekers
of the new day, the new time,
and the new way transformed

recalling Truth and Love
are the treasures sitting upon
the Lotus throne of our hearts

now with intensive Self care and loving mutuality
together we shall meet the difficult challenges
confronting us

dear friends pray for me in my tiredness
as I pray for you in yours, as we take time now,
to be restored together in Truth, Beauty, and Goodness

poem: 9/11: this day of national mourning and rebirth

poem: 9/11: this day of national mourning and rebirth

silently witnessing this day of national mourning,

through tears remembering the tragic images burned into our minds,

grieving for all who perished, were wounded, and traumatized,

humbly opening to the way of love, healing, peaceableness, and community,

let us be bearers of comfort, healing, and reconciliation,

and harbingers of the eternal way of radical love and radical grace in the neighborly community truth and authentic belonging,

God of the Universe, by whatever name,  hear our cries and laments for hope, creative imagination, and a better world for all beings

Yes! Amen.
