poem:  a day at Bird Heaven Hill

poem: a day at Bird Heaven Hill

arising early at first light
waking slowly sipping coffee
then out to hear the dense bird song
and to see the overnight blooms
scanning the sky and vistas
back inside making Cathey’s
ginger green tea elixir
checking friend’s post and messages
writing it all down
before business of the day sets in
Cathey comes down to nap
on the couch near me
we are well here
on Bird Heaven Hill
where all is regarded with love

poem: the beauty of first light in the dancing trees

poem: the beauty of first light
in the dancing trees

wiping sleep from my eyes,
seeing the first rays of sunlight
on the face of the trees,
I draw a sharp gasp

this mirage like appearance
shimmering on the hill
and its warmth of color
seduces the waking mind

enthralled by the sheer beauty,
this creation awes me,
the senses take flight
and the heart races

oh beauty, thou art grand,
the grace of thy form
and the dignity of thy expression
gazing here and now upon you

poem: the hermit goes out for a chore

poem: the hermit goes out for a chore

going out the door
this early morn
for a quick chore

embraced by a breath
of cool, clean air
wrapped in a light breeze

the sunlight low on the horizon
bringing pristine surroundings
into to sharp relief

here on Bird Heaven Hill
with vitality and gratitude flowing
the old hermit’s heart is restored

poem: the nature of the wild within

poem: the nature of the wild within

what is our true nature
closest to our most original self
in the inner wilderness
of shadow, soul, self/Self?

in our most untamed,
unmanaged, uncontrolled,
state of being, in our inner wildness,
who are we truly and authentically?

has being handled by the dominant systems
of power, control, and violence
rendered us but thoughtless, heartless, soulless
ghosts of production, consuming, and hostilities?

beloveds, the inner way traverses
a pathless land of wilderness, where here
in silence and solitude, bit by bit, we now find
the wild, untamed truth of our original nature

poem: promise keepers and promise breakers

poem: promise keepers
and promise breakers

promises, in relationships,
are like seeds that must be
planted in the soil of our
hopes and dreams,
watered with our
sweat and tears,
and allowed to grow
in the light of truth
and authenticity

then waiting to see what
they produce:
throne or vine,
barrenness or generative buds,
pretty flowers that fade and die
or living fruit that nourishes,
famine or feast,
self or Soul,
emptiness or Love

broken promises
are seeds of loss and grief;
and so now, with promises to keep,
facing the challenges
of the journey ahead,
overcoming its hardships
no matter how weary,
miles to go
before I slee

poem: aging together here and now

poem: aging together here and now

here in the church
of God’s Creation worshipping
in the woods, dales, and lakes

doing the work of bringing light unto the self
practicing Self realization, resisting the Empire
and all that separates us from Creation

residing in authentic communities
of healing and belonging with others
who value sharing the work and doing the practice

walking in nature, creating,
writing down the bones
taking care of one another and those we may

here and now in our aging together
releasing worldly desires, falling upward,
in the cloud of unknowing

flowing with Cosmic energy
connecting root to crown
filling hearts with grace, love, hope, faith

beloveds, we are fine

Author’s note: Just a little love note from Cathey
and I to all our beloveds that we are fine here on
Bird Heaven Hill doing the quiet, slow practice and
work of Self, mutuality, belonging together, and oneing,
and we invite you all to join together in authentic
communities of intentionality, purpose, and meaning.

Let us love one another!
