poem: Lenten preparation
bleak late winter day

poem: the deepest throes of late winter
here in the deepest throes
of late winter
freezing fog
chilling to the bones
the coming snow and ice
obliterating
our familiarity
with time and space
then last thawing
the earth cold,
wet, muddy,
the sun in Pisces arrives
soon the vernal equinox
ushering Spring’s arrival,
flowers bloom in verdant, vernal fields
under budding trees; the mad, March hares
and now in some dark
corner of the Lenten heart,
repenting falsity of self,
resurrecting New Life
the fruit of the vine
ripening in the warmth,
new wine in new skins
affirming Life Divine

poem: ode to our nation on inauguration day 2021
today our nation
inaugurates our 46th.
president and vice president
Joe and Kamala
who feel like family
Papa and Auntie
after the past four years
of a president and his administration
bullying its’ citizens
undermining our rights
eroding our democracy
empowering domestic terrorist
cutting off world allies
causing death and confusion in a pandemic
and leading an insurrection
we citizens of good conscience
find some relief and optimism again
fellow Americans
let us come together
in confession, repentance, and reconciliation
healing one another and our nation
that we will finally do the hard work
of forming a more perfect union together

Reflection: the (w)holly name of the Beloved
Christmastide 2020
at the nativity and at the foot of the cross, we are faced with two authentic choices: surrender or resist.
Are we seeing the embodiment of Supreme Love or a threat to our worldly way of life?
To whom or what are we loyal?
To whom or what do we surrender?
There is no serving two masters, a life is either all spiritual or not spiritual at all. Our life is shaped by the end for which we live.
Love, Grace, Surrender….
poem: winter equinox 4:01 a.m.
northern hemisphere
shortest day
longest night
first winter’s day
arriving
at our door
patiently
pre-dawn
cold, wet fog
obliterating
settling
blanketing all
silently
nothing astir
all in its burrow
save the winter hare
and snowy owl
in stillness
anticipatingly
season’s visions
stars in the east
the light of the world
the fire of the spirit
Universal Cosmic Christ
